Its a "startup" meaning someone was charismatic enough to talk someone else out of several million dollars with the intent to sit around an office and eat at 250 restaurants and bars but in order to make it look like the company is doing something they hire retards like Shiita or whatever (usually women) who do busywork at the office accomplishing nothing. The entire company is a waste of money but those who started it get millions of dollars to do nothing other than hire their friends to play work.

You're also forgetting, a $100k job in San Fran is like a $45k salary anywhere else in the US. The article only says six-figure so who knows if thats 100k or 500k, her 1 bedroom apartment is probably $4000 per month. She also woke up to the prices of $20 cocktails and $50 lunches. If her friends made insane money she'd be going still but even her friends are turning down spending $1000 a week on food and drink.
