>>509168489Racial inequality in the US is purely a biproduct of unequal access to the nation's resources, as designed by white Americans.
>>509168265 (OP)The political science is quite clear, we can close the racial achievement gap by reducing the racial opportunity gap. Right now, white Americans are given far greater access to opportunity than AA and (native Americans for that matter).
1. continuing racial integration of schools, cities and towns
2. massive investment into communities where black people live, since desegregation takes a long time. More working class jobs, training programs for skilled labor, and improvements in education for black children - smaller classrooms, etc.
3. criminal justice reform - the law is far to harsh for far to many non-violent crimes (this would improve the lives of non-black people as well). Over-imprisonment breaks up families, and removes men from the lives of their children, which is particularly harmful to young boys.
Those are the major ones: integration, jobs, education, over-imprisonment. I could also add, increasing 1st time home buyer assistance and eliminating discriminatory loan/lending policies. Owning real estate is the primary way that the middle class to builds intergenerational wealth. There are a bunch of things we could do.
