I have been fighting the wall that divides Japan and the United States for almost 8 years now.

There is a strong nationalistic "patriotic spirit" in Japan that resists Christianity. The borders, however, tell a different story.

If you don't have lots of money, you slip through the cracks and look for alternative ways to move to Japan. Some choose illegal, which I urge you to not do.

I wrote to Trump asking him to make it easier for Americans to move to Japan, because this is bullshit. They don't even offer working holiday visas to Americans, so you can't even "try" the country.

Japan offers a J1 equivalent called the "holiday working visa" which lets immigrants try out the country and work temporarily.

Japan does not offer this to Americans.

If you're not american, you use the holiday work visa to get in the country and find a wife to stay.

Japan is a cool place to visit.
After one week in tokyo any white person will feel cramped. Japanese feel comfort in being squished. It's not compatible spiritually.

Rural Japan is cool but I can't imagine living there. Going 30km away will take you 1h because of bad roads and congestion.

OP is mistaken. One does not need any of those except a visa, if a visa is issued you're good to move here.
I'm sure that some of those qualities will help in getting said visa, always easier to convince an employer to hire you when you have a degree or a good command of Japanese, but they're not rigid requirements.
My Japanese class is full of people below N2 level (myself included, though we're all working on it) and while I personally have a degree and a fair bit of savings, this does not appear to be true of all my classmates, there are people here of Filipino origin who are doing manual labor and view the country as expensive.

It's possible to find that situation and end up in a company that lets you go home after 8 hours usually.
