Metallica was back on MTV regularly in 1996, they just sold out, cut off all their hair, and tried to sound/look half-grunge.

Nirvana was not that important to music or pop culture at the commercial level. MTV in the 90's mostly played pop-slop videos. Who actually remembers that the biggest single of 1992 in the US was a song called 'End of the Road' by the long-forgotten R&B group Boyz II Men? Or that the year's biggest albums were the soundtrack to the movie The Bodyguard and Garth Brooks's album "The Chase"? In commercial terms, that stuff was a lot bigger than Cobain or Nirvana.

Do you think that abrupt change was organic? The jews that own the music industry made a concious decision to turn white music into depressing, navel-gazing, emasculated left-coded trash. Nirvana wasn't that popular. I would say Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden were bigger (because their lead singer didn't an hero). Nirvana became popular later because of the quality of their product and success if Dave Grohl. Much like the interest in Kyuss because of Josh Homme.

The problem is that music emulated the popular 90's slop into the 2000s. Rock had an identity crisis leading to trash like Nickelback and Limp Bizkit because to be more like Boyz2men and less like Nirvana.

It wasn't abrupt, retard. Appetite for Destruction came out in 87. The writing was on the wall. Hair bands immediately started toning down the faggotry. The most obvious examples are Motley Crue and Pantera. They got rid of the girly makeup and started dressing normal.

>The jews that own the music industry made a conscious decision to turn white music into depressing, navel-gazing, emasculated left-coded trash.
Iโ€™m not convinced of this conspiracy theory. They are merchants fist and foremost and want to make money. They are also risk averse. When a band becomes popular they rush to shill 10 similar bands because it is seen as a safe bet. Alternative/punk/thrash metal was bubbling all through the 80โ€™s but didnโ€™t break through because MTV went with what they knew worked at the time, until it didnโ€™t. When Nirvana broke big with โ€˜Smells Like Teen Spiritโ€™ record labels rushed to Seattle to grab up all of the other bands, who like Kurt were also piece of shit junkies who looked like they crawled out of a dumpster. This is what the kids wanted. I donโ€™t know if you remember that stage in your life, but teenagers are assholes. They like to wallow in self pity. That or listen to music with swear words and violent lyrics. There is also the conspiracy theory that jews made rap music violent to destroy society. I donโ€™t think thatโ€™s what happened. When rap music was a more obscure black subculture in the 80s it was more positive. Then NWA got big and the industry realized it was all white kids buying the albums for the naughty words. So jews turned rap music into a hyper violent minstrel show simply for the sales. The ruining of society is just an unfortunate side effect. The California pop punk/skate punk stuff that got big almost immediately after Kurt blew his head off had a more positive vibe. As for the leftist coded trash element, this is because young people tend to be more leftist because they donโ€™t know anything, plus residuals from the 60s cultural revolution.

I'm a Millennial. Nirvana was a Gen X band.
I always thought Nirvana was super overrated. The vocals are fucking dogshit. I'm not a musician but I always thought their guitar sounded good in a lot of their songs. Also, the lyrics to their songs make no sense and sound like schizo babble.
Their mtv unplugged performance I actually liked, mainly because they performed covers of songs that they didn't create
Courtney Love didn't kill Kurt Cobain, he killed himself because he's so dogshit at music and life.

As someone who likes Nirvana but not Alice in Chains, I think I can help shed some light on this. The only AiC song thatโ€™s worth anything to me is โ€˜Man in The Boxโ€™. I only like it because of the cool sounding guitar riff through the wah wah pedal effects or whatever that is. The vocals are very boring because heโ€™s not singing any melody. Fairly monotone with limited range, but thatโ€™s not even a negative for me as far as male rock singers go. In addition to being catchier, Kurtโ€™s vocals also have more passion. Heโ€™s really shredding up his vocals chords with the screaming parts. Putting some pizzazz into it. I find the AIC singerโ€™s accent and pronunciation of words to be extremely offputting. Vast majority of casual listeners would agree with me I think. He sounds like a dumbass hick. Nirvana, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, and Pearl Jam of course all sang with a similar accent and cadence to AiC of course. But AiC guy is just way too over the top with it. He sounds like a parody of a backwoods inbred hillbilly idiot. Of this first wave of grunge/alt bands, I think Pearl Jam and AiC are most responsible for inspiring the flood of Nickleback etc bands that would follow. They canโ€™t be held responsible for the independent actions of strangers, but I have to bring it up because this does contribute to my dislike of AiC (through no fault of their own).
>better lyrics
Not gonna ague against this, but thatโ€™s not saying much. Kurtโ€™s lyrics are bottom of the barrel. Some incoherent random shit he scribbled on a napkin on the way to the studio.

Some of the best songs ever are literally the only good song by the band and everything else they made sucks, yet their one good song is 11/10 tier. This is really common with music.

Nirvana catered to women.

He was an attractive guy that whined about things and seemed like a deep poet to tweens.
A lot of music popular with women then was all about whining.
This was big with goth girls, or the goth girls that insisted they were punk.

Young men listened to it all too because they heard what their girlfriends were into, and saw mtv.

Before the internet and cell phones many teen girls spent half the day with mtv on while fielding phone calls occupying the land line of the house talking to other girls.
The music tv was always bigger with females and catered more to them as a result.

Guys went outside and played. Girls were inside watching tv on the phone.

I didn't get into online games until PS3 gen started, basically because Australian internet wouldn't allow it. And yeah modern internet is trash DELIBERATELY so when the Jews killed off decent Google search results and purged YouTube back in 2018, they're trying to bring back the real internet with websites like neocities (geocities was deleted for, umm, reasons), all to hide the Jews' crimes against our societies, like genocidal mass migration.

Yeah, OP doesn't know what the fuck he is talking about. It was glam metal that died after Nirvana came on the scene in late 1991, and Metallica was never glam metal. All those 80s glam metal bands had already moved on from fun tunes, to those annoying power ballads, so a house cleaning of the whole music scene was needed.

This is what a big part of the 80s metal scene turned into by the early 90s:

We'd hear stories of Japanese, Korean and American internet and it sounded like some sci fi future. When I first went to Thailand, I was so shocked at how fast good internet was. I brought my laptop with me on holiday and went to download something, it was a couple of gigs. Started the download, thought it was gonna take ages, went to take a piss, came back and it was already finished. >Who actually remembers that the biggest single of 1992 in the US was a song called 'End of the Road'
This is true for almost every year.
1969 has many albums famous (today) but the actual album that ruled the summer of 69 was the fucking soundtrack to "romeo and Juliet". the soundtrack for "hair" 1969 also was massive.

Led zeppelin 1 & 2 went on to sell insane numbers later, as did the who and roilling stones arguably most famous album, but at the time they were only popular among a niche group of rock fans drowned out by pop. Only the Beatles could chart high consistently in 69 with rock music, along with CCR.
Song of the year: "Games People Play" by Joe South
Record of the year: "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In
"by Bones Howe"
Folk music and soundtrack albums ruled much of the 60s and early 70s, the same way Hootie and the blowfish and black easy listening songs crushed grunge.

Let's look at the actual biggest US singles of each year during the 1990's:

>1990: Wilson Phillips - Hold On
>1991: Bryan Adams - (Everything I Do) I Do It for You
>1992: Boyz II Men - End of the Road
>1993: Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You
>1994: Ace of Base - The Sign
>1995: Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise
>1996: Los del Rรญo - Macarena (Bayside Boys Remix)
>1997: Elton John - Candle in the Wind 1997
>1998: Next - Too Close
>1999: Cher - Believe

And albums:

>1990: Janet Jackson - Rhythm Nation 1814
>1991: Garth Brooks - Ropin' the Wind
>1992: Billy Ray Cyrus - Some Gave All
>1993: Soundtrack: The Bodyguard
>1994: Soundtrack: The Lion King
>1995: Hootie & the Blowfish - Cracked Rear View
>1996: Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill
>1997: Spice Girls - Spice

Grunge is nowhere to be found. Maybe Alanis, a little bit, but that was mostly a pop album.

I grew up in 90s Texas. You can imagine how everything was country - good country like Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, George Straight, Vince Gil, etc....
Looking back it was certainly a very good time to see Madonna's Like a Prayer, Tone Loc, and Alan Jackson's Chattahoochee on the same TV channel. I miss everything about the 90s.

Kurt was a fag that made generations of white people idolize being depressed drug addicts. MOST white people fit this mold now. Before nirvana rock music was fun and uplifting, listen to Van Halen hot for teacher or why canโ€™t this be love? Those songs are about thinking your teacher is hot or falling in love with a girl. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Alice In Chains was all jew propoganda to destroy white peoples the same way nigger rap was used to destroy black culture.

>Jews decide who rises to fame.
Grunch actually caught the jews off guard. Up until that point the music industry was ruled by ad executives and an attitude that "we will tell people what to like". They always had their thumb on the scale for billboard charts and could tell radio stations what to play. Whoever they wanted to push could debut at number 1. The 80s were good for them because people were easier to control.

Grunge emerged naturally and caught the jews totally off guard. Gen X anti-consumerism hit its peak around this point and then just exploded worldwide. Nirvana first printing was of only 46,000 albums and they began their tour in nightclubs. Midway through tour they suddenly were selling millions of records, and the record company had to halt all production of other albums to meet neverminds demand.

Jews were in a panic, realizing they missed out on "the next big thing" and ran to Seattle to sign every band in sight hoping to land the next Nirvana. Soundgarden and pearl jam already had record deals in 1991, and were mostly sleeper region hits, but they too exploded in 1992 once the spotlight was on them. all three bands were independently successful without jewish fuckery.

Same for me. There are a ton of artists I enjoy 1 or 2 songs from.
There are some albums I like to listen to, especially The Chemical Brothers' "come with us" which is one of the only albums I play from beginning to end

I end up liking artists themselves when they do experimental music or have a very special sound. Super Furry Animals come to mind as a band I actually can say I "like" in general

At least I am not alone. There are only a handful of bands where I like more than 2-3 of their songs, and oddly enough they aren't even my favorite. Some bands just have a lot of good 8/10 songs and some 9's but no 10's at all. Then others have a sole 10 and nothing else even worth listening too.
