Eh, not exactly, but cavalry in general suffered greatly from the new breeds introduced in service in the 19th century, because they lacked the hardiness of earlier ones.
For example, a company of Hussars deserted in 1848 to join the Hungarian revolution, and crossed the Carpathians on goat paths. 50 years later hussar horses were faster and bigger than ever, but lacking the same endurance.
