They renewed it because it's up to them if it is renewed or not, despite safety issues. They don't have the ability to replace its generating capabilities. It's a remnant of when white people ran the country. The real question is how much longer will it operate without incident? Will they keep experts from first world countries in charge of it or let in more and more nepo hires until some spear chucker moron causes a meltdown?

My guess is a quarter is stolen, and another half goes to some big companies (such as GE - GE Nuclear) making billions of $ on guaranteed gov contracts in Africa.
