I mean we kinda finished with the scandalous privatizations in the 2000s. It's a complicated story that I don't know the details of well enough to say anything about.
People were VERY pissed when they wanted to privatize Telekom Srbija and even that is still ours, as much of a Vučić propaganda tool as it has become. I'm pretty sure they were protesting over the mere suggestion of Telekom privatization.
I mean Telekom literally spent hundreds of millions of euros (tax funded) to the rights to broadcast the world cup on their sport channels just to take people away from private cable provider Serbia BroadBand that has news channels which aren't just a Vučić shilling outlet (though they still suck ass in their own right) because they were recently owned by the same United Group that owns a lot of media outlets too.

As for buses we had private companies doing it forever. But holy shit there is one thing that pisses me off to an extreme degree. Vucic's goons have raped Belgrade's public transport company to give more lines to their own private bus companies. Which hire unforeseen amounts of South Asians and Sub-Saharan Africans. They want to kill off the trolleybus network to replace them with a dogshit electric buses owned by a private transporter. My area is served by trolleybuses exclusively and they just killed half the lines that went through it. It's almost faster to walk now.
We MADE OUR OWN BUSES AND THEY WERE JUST ADEQUATE and Ikar(b)us had nearly had 100 years of history behind it too, they used to make fucking aircraft.
Vucic goons come around, sabotage the SHIT out of Ikarbus and sell it to some chink holding company and it manufactures absolutely nothing now. Why? To force GSP Belgrade to buy Turkish and Chinese shitboxes through Party Affiliated IMPORTERS who pocket 20 grand per bus instead of just directly Buying Serbian.
So then Ikarbus celebrates its 100th anniversary as a fucking mechanic shop for unreliable Chinese buses and Belgradians can enjoy the exploding pneumatic tank of the turkshit BMC Procity.
We also have a Siemens tram factory within the damn country but Vucic goons go and buy turkshit Bozankaya and oh shit it's too wide for Belgrade streets... More work for party friends, renovating the streets to fit this TURK SHIT!!!!
