>>509256021That reminds me, there is another initiative. which tries to ban meat from all shelves. (no joke)
under the guise of animal cruelty and sad faces, they want to end farming completely and its close to a million.
I see it as a problem, for a couple of reasons, one of them is personal. I have irritable bowel syndrome, and 'meat' actually helps prevent pain and get a normal stool. It also contains lots of b12, iron and other vitamins. Some people are completely dependent on meat and follow a so called 'carnivoric diet'.
Plenty of people want to eat meat; so- I honestly hope that one fails. I don't know where they got all their votes from, but probably already existing animal rights activists. I also think they automatically signed the petition there, rather than manual, by using data these groups had of their members.
I literally never heard of this petition here despite knowing animal rights activists, yet somehow they have 500% threshold on votes worth from my country.. sigh-
I think it goes too far basically.
I think there are ways to farm, without being cruel and keep suffering to a minimum, both for plant and animals. Sometimes its nessecary to farm animals for people.
A lot of european food cuisine culture also depends on animals; eggs, milk, etc. It would be devastating to tons of businesses as well as history and ... simply to the tourist industry as well. I suspect that one would lead to huge economic problems.
In any case, I hope it doesn't go anywhere. Not all ECIs are a good idea.
