Guard tactics outside of hyper specialized regiments and elite formations will still heavily rely on overwhelming force and being able to win attrition warfare.
Not everyone is fixing bayonets and charging titans obviously, but it will pretty much always be grinding down the enemy by the fact the imperium can easy eat thousands of casualties at a time.

The Russ for example is shipped in batches of 10,000 at a time. They can take loses on the chin

Planetary defense force.
Basically the imperium equivalent to National Guard. Poorly equipped usually a first wave of defense against uprisings and invasions and also where actual guard regiments first look for potential fresh meat for the larger meat grinder.

When shit gets real bad or if the planet jsut is that way the imperium will take prisoners, gang members, and sometimes mutants and tell them to die to the enemy or the guns behind them.

I see it as GW was always kind of barely able to hold itself back from making stupid shit. Even a lot of the old models are kind of shitty.
But now that it’s extremely easy to make models GW can kind of just do whatever I feels like easily so A LOT of bad minis get made since nothing really holds GW back from cranking stupid shit out.

because GW-fags never had much of their own imagination, buddy. sure it looks all cool and "original" at first, if youre a dumbed down goysumer that is, but even then - after a while - you realize they had ripping of novels (star ship trooper et al.), history (zulu-wars, WW1, vietnam, the crusades etc) and contemporary scifi (80s+90s) all the time. even the "hive fleets" arent original... it was all there already in "alien" and "body snatchers" et al.

GW is a fraud. thank god i never payed them more than a handful of bucks back in the late 90s for some plastic skaven boxes and "lore books".

the literally suck of the "imaginative needs" of nerds by offering them fake historical make-ups.
