He went to meet black people in Harlem on their own terms. I think what Jewish people would want to see is where the candidate goes to meet mainstream Jewish people in a mainstream synagogue or in a mainstream setting and simply says with the same clarity that he brought this weekend – where he met, again, black people where they are – and simply said to Jewish people, “I hear you and here is my plan to protect Jewish New Yorkers.” Not to fund, you know, more hate crimes enforcement for everyone. I don't like the guy but it seems strange for just a primary nominee to get this level of national attention months out from an election radical or not. There's an incumbent mayor with corruption charges, probably cumo as an independent or maybe even a schism in the democratics with them running two canidates against their own former nominee, a former federal prosecutor, and Curtis Sliwa the offical republic canidate all also running. Hardly seems a sure thing at this point. I know next to nothing about new york local politics but the glowie federal prosecutor dude seems pretty moderate comparatively speaking and I'm interested to see how he's going to fit into the picture. Between a seemingly moderate right leaning independent, two democratic canidates, an offical republican canidate, and a disgraced incumbent who doesn't have the support of his party it's going to be a really weird election I think and one where NYCs bias towards democrat mayors might get shaken up. Very split vote.
