>>509286693The second-gen Tiguan is also good, the same 2.0 TDI model but in an AllSpace configuration (extended wheelbase for more space) is an underrated machine. But it only came with a DSG auto, no torque converter. So that might ruin it for the long-term since DSGs don't last like torque converter autos.
Major service at 120,000km.
Major major service at about 250,000km (need to tear down the engines and replace all the sensors, new turbos, suspension, etc, but cheap enough if you get it done in one go to reduce the labour cost).
Some cooling fans can have computer faults despite being mechanically sound, but they're easy to get new or second hand.
And keep an eye on the battery, sometimes they just die every 80,000km or so if they're not checked.
