The second-gen Tiguan is also good, the same 2.0 TDI model but in an AllSpace configuration (extended wheelbase for more space) is an underrated machine. But it only came with a DSG auto, no torque converter. So that might ruin it for the long-term since DSGs don't last like torque converter autos.

Some cooling fans can have computer faults despite being mechanically sound, but they're easy to get new or second hand.
And keep an eye on the battery, sometimes they just die every 80,000km or so if they're not checked.

Also, the Skoda Yeti is like a working mans Range Rover. But it needs to be in the 2.0 TDI like the tiguan with leather, sunroof, and manual since the auto was a first-gen DSG and too much of a hassle at higher mileage.

These cars can go 500,000km easy with standard maintenance. And if not abused, the interior will remain like brand new.

I have a 2016 Rav4 myself. Never had any issues with it. Great car.

But last time I was in The US i drove an Escalade like the one in the picture. And while it might not be as reliable as the Toyota, It has to be the nicest and most comfy car I have ever driven. It looks gorgeous too. Drove it from LA all the way to Georgia and back to LA via Vegas. Was the nicest ride ever. I was surprised on how little fuel it used also considering the size of the car.
