>>509303525As far as I can tell the speed at which you lose weight has no impact on how much loose skin you end up with.
The factors that actually contribute:
>Your age plays a role>Your general genetics and skin health>How quickly you earned the weight>How long you have held the additional weight>It's likely to be worse if you had weight loss surgery>The amount of weight lost>How much sunlight you have been exposed to in the past>Having been a smokerSkin retracting and going back to (more) normal takes time. Despite seeing the claim that loosing skin too quickly can cause more loose skin I have not been able to find any studies or evidence supporting this. That being said, loosing weight very quickly means the skin had less time to do its work to retract. Obviously a person that lost some weight over some time looks better (as in has less loose skin) than a person that lost the same amount of weight over half the time, which is what I assume caused the saying. If you have any proof one way or the other, feel free to suggest it, it's greatly appreciated.
The thing to thus keep in mind is that skin going back takes time. If you lose your weight fast you should wait a good amount of time to give your skin time to retract before making any rash decisions like going and getting surgery. Give it time. It seems like 1 year after losing the weight if you keep that weight off for that time your skin will more or less reach a new point of homeostasis and will stop retracting.
Again, if you have evidence to the contrary I'd love to see it because I see this myth parroted around like common knowledge but from what I can gather its pure nonsense.
