The biggest reason for me to reject Islam is due to the origin of humanity. In traditional Islam there are basically two positions. The first one is simple creationism, god created every living being. The second one is agnostic on the exact method of creation for non-human animals but maintains based on the Quran that god directly created humanity. I reject this due to the scientific evidence for humans evolving from apes. Stuff like archeological evidence of prehistoric humans, genetic similarities between humans and chimpanze and the striking anatomical similiarities. Another reason for me to reject Islam and other religion is the soul, or the lack of such. The intellectual abilities like reasoning and memory are linked to physical properties of the brain. If someone destroys parts of your brain you simply lose them. Consciousness is intimately connected to the brain can be influenced by interacting directly with the brain. Because of this, it makes sense to believe that the mind is a product of physical matter. If you destroy someones brain then their minds stops existing. This makes an afterlive implausible, which is in contradiction with abrahamic religions.
