Mexican man living in Tennessee for 23 years nabbed by ICE outside his home
A father who's lived in the U.S. for more than 20 years was detained by ICE at his home.
Gerardo Granados came to the country from Mexico chasing the American dream as a construction worker providing for his wife and children until Tuesday morning.
"I thought they would go after criminals, but this is just one big slap in the face," said Edgar Perez, whose father was detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE.
Perez said he was at work when ICE arrived while his younger brother was home, helping translate for their dad.
"My father has been here for 23 years, and I've been here for 20 years myself. I just turned 23. Itโs baffling that this is now happening," said Perez.
"Once this G-325 form is submitted, nothing is stopping the government from turning right around and using that same information against them in a possible arrest or enforcement action," said Andrew Rankin, immigration attorney.
Edgar said he fears his dad may be deported back to Mexico.
"My father detained by ICE, and I didnโt say goodbye. I didn't say, 'I love you, Dad,' and now I donโt know if he's ever coming back home," Perez said.
