I do believe he's on the right way. Mostly cause social media like facebook was a momentum thing, a lot of many new things going on the internet at the same time and it happened that facebook made META what it is today, it's the spine of the company but let's all be sincere about trending things: it's always moving forward and it is just a waste of time trying to give a second life to something that clearly is in the past.
Now focusing on AI is something more reliable especially considering the future and this run for the dominion of it. Companies like Meta, microsoft, Apple, they got the right amount of cash to bring the best AI developers to their side and it's not a bad thing, if OpenAi can't pay them enough or if they feel like their work is more valuable then what they're getting then none of it is unethical, it's business and considering the inevitable future where AI will be a major thing on society every company gotta rely on their capacities do to the best as possible and stablish itself as a number 1.
