In fact I think they have done that with Ukraine multiple times in the past. The only reason the war is happening at this point is because the US is giving them shitloads of money. If they didn't Ukraine would still be the same Ukraine and no war.

I'd move US forces all along the Belarusian border and along the parts of the Russian border that don't have active fighting, so the Ukrainians can move forces off there. I'd also move American air forces and air defence systems into Ukraine for missile interception. If the Russians attacked our forces we'd go in counterattack, otherwise we'd just hold position so the Ukrainians can focus on retaking their territory.

I would do nothing. I would allow for Ukraine to negotiate with Russia on its own behalf without military support or security guarantees from the West. Europe is a vassal state of America so without my say-so, they wouldn't be sending anything either. I would simply not send money and weapons there, nor would I send any ambassadors or any kind of official. It's not an American conflict, so I'd just silently observe and let the two countries decide what to do on their own. I'd also nuke Israel.

Tell Putin if he gives it all back he can join NATO and the EU (and actually sign the deal since he probably wouldn't be retarded enoug to fall for for the 11th time). Win-wins all around.
