OpenSuse is especially woke and gay, but the entire Gnome project is as well. Arch has also spoken out about some gay bullshit.
Mint is the most based and user-friendly while also being very powerful and customizeable. It's the default option for Windows converts. Don't let anyone convince you to install Arch or Gentoo or anything more complex. Start with Mint and don't bother with anything else until you're familiar with everything in the Linux ecosystem.

I've mostly used Ubuntu for the last 17 years. Started with 8.04 in college, dual booting it with windows then eventually switched over to only linux around 12 or 14. I played around with Mint, Fedora, and Manjaro a little as well, but didn't like them as much.

People say CachyOS but you can honestly just use any distro and install Steam and you're good to go. If you want more control you can use Lutris or Heroic Games Launcher instead of Steam. It's that simple.

If the game has Steam Workshop then its just as easy as clicking subscribe on the mods you want. Otherwise you end up having to do it manually, but its usually not a big deal (only really did it for CP2077 and Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous, and it was pretty easy to do manually for those).
