That said, men aren't a monolith and neither are alpha men, as a sub group. As I wrote in the opening, a sober look at the situation reveals the simple truth that not everyone can be the alpha male. Hierarchies only exist when there's someone at the bottom and the sexual hierarchy isn't something to vanish, at least not in the foreseeable future though maybe ever. If you can't help it and nature doesn't have it in it for you to be alpha then you have to be the beta and in that case you might aswell make yourself comfortable in that role.
