I paid 1000 euro for a very good 12000 BTU Mitsubishi Heavy Industry AC a few years ago. It's rock solid and I am happy with it. Consoooms a small amount of electricity and cools/heats very well. The Japanese know what they are doing. How come a "turd world country" inhabitant such as myself is able to afford a 1000 euro AC, but you aren't? Why are you broke, OP?

I've been using this new technology called: the sea. Every day I do 2-3km on my bicycle and then plunge into the fucking cold of the Atlantic. How much would you pay for that? Surely more than 1000€.

These beaches are shitty, though, as you can see from the pic. It's still a beach, sometimes I see hot chicks strolling around and in the sand, and I do it on company time, so I can't complain. But I'm hoping I'll get to go the Algarve during my vacations, and camp in a touristless spots

Sure, we southern Euros get paid like serfs, and to get an AC installed is not easy, but there are some perks.

The person now has a legitimate store for ACs, but he still has these "sales".
I live near the border, so check online marketplaces filtered for cities near the Serbian border in Romania, and search for new ACs that are suspiciously cheap.

The brand is usually "Gree", also find someone who can install it off the books/for cash/without invoice for maximum cheapness (and knows what they're doing). I bought these inverter heat pump ACs for every bigger room on my properties.

>I buy AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and ASRock B550M Steel Legend from Magyarorszag.
That was one of the last good motherboards that still had plenty of connectibility, the b650m and b850m boards barely have usb3 on them.
Get rid of the 3600 and put in a 5600g instead though. It'll run far cooler and use less power while having an iGPU that can really shoot above its weight class (can play Katamari and Red Alert 3 at max settings). I started with a 3600 and changed it to a 5600g, huge difference. The 3600 idles at fucking 50C.

You wouldn't need an AC, if you weren't a retard. Ventilate in the morning and evening/night, keep your windows shut during the day and your shutters down.

So many barely functional lobotomites suffer heat because they rip open their windows and keep their shutters up 24/7, I'll never understand that. Do you not feel the glass radiating heat when left exposed to the scorching sun? Do you not understand the most basic principles of thermodynamics -- that if you allow it the temperature inside will rise/drop to match the outside, and temperature is mediated by air and radiation?
Once the walls in your home are heated up (or cooled down in winter), you'll need days/weeks to fix it.

Convert it into 2 duct mode broski,
It's pulling in air from your room to cool down the AC which is not smart since you are using up the cold Air from your room to cool it when you can just use a second duct on the air intake and get the air from outside the machine doesn't give a fuck if its 22 degrees air or if its 30 degrees air, having it in 1 duct mode also creates pressure trying to push hot air from outside replenishing the warm air it sucks out the room otherwise you'd be in a vacuum with 2 ducts it equalizes the pressure and instead of having hot air streaming in from every crack you instead have cold air pushing outward.

Also bonus if you use those sun foils that prevents heat from even going through your glass windows and if you insulate the ducts from giving off heat in your room with those things it's all about efficency and getting at as most efficent as possible

Umm electrical cost like 50-80 euro a month in daily electricity. Portable are rubbish and cost almost as much. You're still fucked without solar panels being installed and you'd still pay into that charge if you used it for heating in cold months some are combined. Fans are much cheaper they simply aren't as good.

They're nigger tier, breakable shit. Constant leaking. Loud noise. Don't cool big spaces. They break in a few years of usage. Don't get portable crap. They cost the same or more in electricity of an excess of 50+ a month in charges per day.

Topic is right, air-conditioning is a consumption con. Until they make low energy usage systems, but they won't.

The heat is becoming absurd with all these numbers. Places like Spain need to subsides those energy costs. Except their renewable grid also fails in today's extremes. About the only solution to their use is solar panels' subsiding any usage. Except they don't last long either.
