>>509403065 (OP)Forgive me, but I must go schizo. If you read about the Cold War you'd remember that the USSR had state enforced atheism. Why would this be? Because Leninist praxis revolves around materialism, it's a purely material ideology because the USSR's primary strategy was leveraging its material wealth in resources and labor. On the opposite end was the US that didn't have the luxury of being connected to Europe and Asia via pipelines and railways, so their main form of protectionism was enforcing nationalism and cultural expansion, particularly these fake neopagan cults and religious nationalism like Buddhism, the Dalai Lama for instance is a CIA asset. The US' only leverage was getting people to believe in culture as a defense against the USSR, so how did the USSR counter this? Attacking belief itself, which isn't hard to do because the US' cultural machinations were entirely disingenuous. Oh you believe Japanese culture is authentic? State Shinto was a tool invented by their western imperialist national government, read about haibutsu kishaku they destroyed the original culture! Oh you think Greek culture is real? Brits converted Romaniote jews and gypsies into a nationalist cult to break them off from the Ottoman Empire (nevermind that Russia did the same). In the next breath Russia will claim to be the Third Rome and the true inheritor of Greek culture, this failed spectacularly and ironically only really resonates with schizo Americans since the orthodox church is gaining popularity here. Note how this snarky personality always belongs to a dissident leftist? They don't trust the system, yet they refuse to believe in anything if the person presenting info lacks credentials. It's lazy authoritarian materialism, they could pick up a book and read, but believe in social capital enough to take credentials at face value and default to believing in nothing. Most of these people unsurprisingly come from college adult nurseries.
tl;dr McCarthy was right.
