I’ve noticed many people in society have no real genuine emotion. Even when something good happens the enthusiasm seems performative and disingenuous. What causes this ?

People are too worried of seeming ridiculous or cringe in social settings. I've always had pretty bad social anxiety and I grew up around a lot of fighting. Mix that with a very honed bs detector, and I don't do well with strangers. How I overcame this was by allowing myself to be unapologetically myself even and especially when it damaged my image in front of others. In fact I made it a point to go full abrasive asshole with certain people, and especially certain women. Anyways, it's all very fun and you feel free, and you make friends that genuinely accept your personality while being genuine themselves. It's very freeing to act like you don't give a single solitary fuck what someone thinks of you (even though we all do to a degree). I say all this to say that when you're like this, you easily notice people that aren't, they seem dull and locked behind a personality wall that they never allowed themselves to breach in public. If you do this long enough, you lose your soul. You don't laugh, you don't get excited by minutae and share stories. Your social image has locked you away from experiencing intensity and sincerity. You're a boring lifeless fuck.

I hate people like Fantano because he's literally disingeneous and performative. He's stuck in his hipster phase "I can find a problem with anything that's regarded highly".
For example, there's an interview he has with a comedian/podcaster and the comedian is giving him shit because Fantano doesn't think Kid A is an amazing album. Fantano as a defense paraphrases Richard D James opinion of Radiohead as if it was his own original thought, but what Fantano doesn't understand is that Richard D James had never fully heard Radiohead and only knew them from radio mentions and ended up correcting himself after listening their more experimental stuff.

Now, you might think that this story is retarded and it has some sort of autistic fixation, but it really shows how people like Fantano just have an allure towards midwits who want to feel clever.
