The most difficult part would be the payout, an guaranteeing 100% against fraud. You could only prove you were a descendant genetically. You would need to also assure that the reparations would ONLY go to descendants and not people who immigrated AFTER the Civil War. If you don’t like that line drawn, then what line should be drawn? There has to be a cutoff point and if it is for slavery - not racism - then that’s it.

The only way to do this would be for the US Govt to take out bonds in the amount of people receiving reparations x $40,000-$50,000. I believe last I saw a number, the adjusted for inflation 1895 to 2025 cost of an average slave would be that amount.

Anyone wanting to receive a payout would have to be genetically sequenced. That’s all there is to it. I think a benefit - a huge plus actually - would be helping people with their ethnic identity and family origins. You would also be able to find lost family, distant cousins, etc. Which is probably why this will never happen.

Who's paying for it? Does the government have billions in dollars just waiting to be given out? I assume the only way to pay the reparations would be through taxation. Are you going to tax everyone, even if they had no role in the slave trade? Wouldn't it be racist just to tax white people? And would you be taxing every white person, or just the descendents of slavers? And are the descendents responsible for what their ancestors did? If so, does that apply for everything or just the slavery thing specifically? Because that would open up the black population to pay up reparations for the damage they've caused this country.
