Pretty much the opposite actually, keeping it close in the family preserves genetic lineage, as every person is a split between their parents through 23 chromosomes. If you create a genetic line in which every mate is in no way related to the existing tree, in 7 generations you have 128 pairings making it mathematically improbable any of that 7th generation are even 1% of the first generation.

I way told marriage is taken very seriously over there and the family basically investigate the martiage partner thoroughly wether she can housekeep and is god-fearing (and generally stuff like that). To do that people ask around families that have lived around said girl to know whether she's a whore or not, is her family proper? Are they criminals/have a bad reputation etc.?
