Because they haven't lifted and only read about it on the internet and assume they can do it. I have a friend who claimed could bench 150 kg without trying so we went to the gym and he struggled to lift 50 kg. Basically people are full of shit.

what percent of people actually need to deadlift 500 pounds like once you are able to bench press 2 plates and deadlift 3 plates, I think you can stop trying to do more. You'd be better served by doing literally anything else in life.

Like they think they can easily do 50 pushups, or 20 30 + pull-ups .
Dumbest lifts that only cause injury, you can get built with dumbell squats without risk of fucking your back up. I quit dead lifting, benching and squat rack because I am over 30 and have hurt myself on all of those over my lifting hobby for the past 15 years. Its not worth it.

My best is 400lbs, can do 285lbs for 30 reps(with a barbell setup) in a row. All I know is I don't want to piss off a beast who can deadlift 500lbs. Granted I can scrap, but I'd still be at a severe disadvantage.
