The Amish utilize long running tax exempt large acre farms and a very socialist tribal community support structure. The big drawback is that Amish life is anything but drama free. Lots of corruption and dark dealings that occasionally erupt in violent internal wars occur with surprising regularity. There's also their long list of horrifying metabolic disorders especially various rare but very bad lipid disorders. It's their inbreeding in the Dutch line so heavily that causes it. They really need to introduce a bunch of German and Northern French genetics and a touch of Nordic. That would get most of the metabolic disorders knocked down and out after a careful management of two generations.
