I believe it gives you the best chance for survival. However, it is not always the case.
What is the % of people that cooperated that got shot compared to those that didn't cooperate and got shot?
The smart move is to cooperate, be polite, and fight it in court.

I've watched thousands of body cams. The very best thing you can do if you're getting arrested is be as boring as possible. Don't admit to anything, but don't withhold your identity. There's no point. They will find out regardless. Do not give them any additional charges for the DA to bargain with and you might just get everything dropped.

Maybe 99 times out of a hundred. But there's always that 1% of the time when the cops are psychos or panicking and they do a Daniel Shaver on you.

It depends on the cop and their mood. Often times just shutting up and letting them get their job over with will be much better than trying to make things difficult, but sometimes you run into a power tripping asshole who's made it their mission to make your day suck no matter what you do.
