Dont be a cheapskate. Pay it.
>The living wage fee reflects a larger shift toward fairer pay for service workers. While it may raise the total cost of dining out, it supports a more sustainable and respectful pay model for restaurant employees.
>At Lula and Sadies, we believe in fair compensation for our hardworking team members. The “Living Wage Fee” is a flat 20% charge added to each bill, which allows us to pay all our staff members a living wage that exceeds the minimum wage requirements. We pay all staff members, no matter of position, a starting hourly wage that is considerably higher than the living wage. Because of this very intentional decision, our staff are able to take home their hourly wage + their portion of the “Living Wage Fee” collected at the time that they worked ensuring that all staff make above and beyond a living wage for Durham. The Living Wage in Durham County is $18.40 for a single adult with 0 dependents.
>As a family-owned and community-oriented establishment, we are deeply committed to the well-being of our employees. The “Living Wage Fee” enables us to support our staff members by providing them with wages that go beyond the standard minimum wage. This initiative is part of our effort to foster a positive work environment and ensure that our team members can thrive both personally and professionally.
>The “Living Wage Fee” is 20% of the total bill. The fee is transparently listed on our menus, website, and posted around the restaurant. Most importantly it is clearly stated on the bill, allowing our guests to see the exact amount that contributes to fair employee compensation.
Is the “Living Wage Fee” mandatory?
>Yes. The “Living Wage Fee'' is a contribution to support our commitment to providing a living wage to our employees. We greatly appreciate any support towards this initiative, as it directly impacts the livelihoods of our dedicated team members.

>>509469669 (OP)And in 3 months when their rent is due and they have to close down because they are too retarded to run a business will anyone be surprised?
>>509469669 (OP)Why not just include it in the pricing of the meal
>>509469669 (OP)Really should be illegal.
Why are businesses allowed to separate the total cost that gets to the customer into twelve different fees? Customers should only see one, final fee with everything included.

>>509469669 (OP)>Dont be a cheapskate. Pay it.And dont forget to tip. Trump needs to make this mandatory in America.
Only tightwads have a problem with this.
>>509469827Virtue signal. Look at their instagram. Full of pride faggotry.
>>509469827Because they're kikes and hope the customer doesn't see it until the end.
By "on the menu", it's probably tiny text on the bottom of one of the pages.
>>509469669 (OP)Oh so they're auto-tipping, that's convenient. I don't need to leave a tip anymore then.
>>509469877It's advertised as being part of the final fee. They post it everywhere so you know way beforehand. Totally 110% legal.
>>509469877Yeah like in Japan where they put a price on the menu and then add the sales tax fucking niggers
>>509470054It's the same in the US.It's called meal tax.
>>509469669 (OP)I actually really like when the restaurants include server fee or gratuity fee or some such on the bill. It saves me the trouble of thinking about how much to tip.
>>509469669 (OP)Believe in hardworking retards. BTW, when did 'hardworking' become an English word?
>>509469669 (OP)>$12 for a god damned cheese burgerwouldn't eat there in the first place
>>509469669 (OP)A lot of these places are just trying the establish themselves as the "hip gay woke place." It's a risky strategy but in the right market (that isn't saturated) it can be easy money with a loyal clientele of affluent woke retards that will pay that fee.
People need to do what I started doing. Stop going to restaurants. Tip culture is not acceptable. To pay the staff you should bake the labor costs into the product like every other industry does.
>>509469669 (OP)Go suck my cock fag, put the fries in the bag
>>509470156>It's called meal taxNo such thing memeflag retard.
Just raise your prices instead of tacking it on as an extra fee and being a self-righteous faggot about it.
>>509469669 (OP)I hope they twll you that beforehand otherwise id fight with the restaurant
>>509469669 (OP)This wouldn’t be necessary if republikkkans would just increase the minimum wage to a living wage. At least $31.25/hour is the minimum living wage these days. Even that is low.
>>509470841Let's make it $50 just to be safe.
>>509469827Because then they'd have to show the higher price on the menu. As long as the fee is listed somewhere (almost assuredly in very small print on the bottom of the menu) the higher price technically isn't false advertising.
One thing I hate about the US is being nickel and dimed every time I buy something. Of course I want your employees to be paid enough to live on so they don't pit in my food, of course I want the restaurant or store to collect whatever the sales taxes so they stay in business even if I'm not always happy about the tax rate.
But I WOULD REALLY LIKE the advertised price to be price I pay, instead of having to do 5 different calculations between choosing what to buy and paying for it. If something says $10, I want to pay $10, not go on some bookkeeping fugue trying to figure out the eventual total of $15.73 or whatever it turns out to be. I absolutely hate having to do this for 95% of purchases when I would rather be thinking about how good the food is going to taste or how the clothes will fit or what I'll learn from the book.
tldr just show the price I actually pay wtf
>>509469669 (OP)If you can't afford the living wage fee, you can't afford to eat out
>>509469669 (OP)I don't get it. Food is the same price in Australia yet they pay workers like 30 an hour for it and there's no tipping. Is rent that much expensive in the USA or something or do the owners genuinely make a much bigger profit than needed?
>>509471046> If something says $10, I want to pay $10, not go on some bookkeeping fugue trying to figure out the eventual total of $15.73 or whatever it turns out to be.Real. If you need to pay for something $15.73 then why do they show 10 dollars on price tag? Why won't they include into price all the taxes and fees that you pay
>taxed twice for the same meal
>expected to pay a 3rd tax too
lol
Working in service taught me not to tip.
>>509469669 (OP)Shouldn't the uh... employer being paying the employee wage?
>>509469669 (OP)>whynot just raise their salary?>because fuck you, now gib me shekelssssssssMan, am I glad where I live, there are no penny-pinching kikes around.
>>509471046Cool it with the antisemitism
I'm not paying for something I haven't ordered.
Give me a living wage then if you put it in the receipt.
Otherwise sue me I'm not paying the fee it is all

>>509469827the cost of the meal closely represents cost of ingredients and labor.
the cost of living extra charge would represent the cost of healthcare and housing for employees.
which isn't a bad idea and illustrates the cost of items vs cost of living.
>>509470507>woke retards that will payThey are rarely the type to pay for what they advocate. They want someone else to pay, someone else to do the work, someone else to suffer.
>>509473425Instead of taking the fight to the government to get produce prices to come down they shit on their customers. I have my own responsibilities and I have my own duties, they don’t involve looking out for kitchen staff dental health. This scheme is extraordinarily Jewish.
>>509469669 (OP)So basically I'm only paying for the food which is always expensive as fuck anyway. If I have to pay obligatory tip or whatever I'm not going there again.
>>509473461lol this is the best part, the most vehement wokies are on disability, welfare, or work part time at a pet store. They never have money to support gay starbucks and apple shit, but their twitter account makes them look like they do.
>>509470042That's a lie. In muttmerica not even groceries list final price after tax.
>>509469669 (OP)I don't understand why americans need to add tips and fees to everything instead of being upfront about what the thing costs.
>>509473512it can say the produce prices are low but the cost of healthcare and real estate is high
>>509473679That’s because once you walk away, they can’t get any more money out of you. They have to do it on the spot but then they get too greedy.
>>509469669 (OP)>pooling tipsYeah, no way I'd ever work for a commie establishment like that. You shouldn't eat there either. Good service is penalized.
>>509469669 (OP)>living wagethen why is it a percentage instead of a flat rate?
does me buying a bigger burger mean your bills go up so you need more money?
kiss tipping culture goodbye
>>509473690Which isn’t my problem. Literally anything an employee is going through is irrelevant to me just as it has been irrelevant for thousands of years before this. Take a paycut instead.
>>509471077It’s true, and not in a snarky way, just an unfortunate truth that we’ve all become poorer. That $18 an hour they’re getting isn’t enough for a car payment and $900 rent.
>>509470440$14.16 if the 20% markup was baked into the prices of things
Which is why the restaurant doesn’t do it
It helps to hide the cost you will pay in the end to trick you into spending money.
>$12 for a hamburger? It’ll be $14.16 for it. $15.33 after taxes. Don’t forget your 20% minimum recommended tip! Your total (for just the hamburger) will be $18.16Yeah I’m not going there either
>>509469669 (OP)>2025>still eating outlol, only dumb wagies eat out since they are always on the run

In the meantime I make all that stuff at home using the same ingredients and whenever I eat out it's rarely ever as good as the food I make at home.

>>509471324Not sure post covid but pre covid there would be a lot of staff in sit down restaurants in the US. Though I used to hate the fake hows the food the waiter would ask 2 minutes after I receive it. Personally I prefer the plain old meh service you get in Australia and don't have to worry about tipping (although post covid and all the qr shit is trying to push that seppo tipping shit here).
>>509473515Here pulling that shit is strictly illegal
t. had some retards try to pull that on me and my friend (lawyer) when we ate out somewhere expensive, they took it off the bill real quick when he opened his mouth
>>509469669 (OP)How about Americans just add all these sales taxes, gratuity fees, living wage fees directly into the displayed prices, and then people already know how much they're going to pay. And because there's a living wage fee already included there is no more need to tip. Thank me later burgers
>>509473425so you are separating out what counts as labour/labor? a person is paid a rate, they aren't paid $x for effort, $x for housing, $X for food, $x for shoes.
>>509469669 (OP)This is such a weird American thing. In sane countries the price listed is what you pay.
