Japan is a high trust society. Capitalism only works when the population is homogeneous.

Insufficiently regulated Capitalism inevitably leads to the permanent exploitation of the increasingly impoverished, local working class by a small, parasitic clique of land and capital owners. Living in a political and socio-economic system captured and controlled by the wealthy owner-class, the final and most effective recourse for rebalancing socio-economic power in favour of the majority is the application of violent justice.

Had he fired his staff he himself would have gotten forcibly removed one way or another.
Their labour laws force the companies to exhaust all other cost cutting measures (including paycuts and 'nicely' asking people to voluntarily quit) before laying people off.

Nintendo is special even for Japan. They have the lowest employee turnover in the world for a company their size and that's in a tech field where turnover is high compared to other industries. They are one of the few Japanese company where lifetime employment is still standard. The downside is extreme conservatism. You are expected to be fully loyal to the company. That's only for Nintendo Japan though.

Are salaries high ?
What does it mean "to be fully loyal to Nintendo", most people couldn't be disloyal to it if they wanted to.

>fully loyal
That's the same for every company in Japan. People are culturally expected to remain loyal to the company they work for, because companies are considered "a provider of livelihood".

I was watching a thing this morning about private equity in the USA closing hospitals for money, they use the same bullshit they use in other companies.

>acquire company
>take out huge loans in the name of the company
>sell all the company's shit
>"oh no ah geez dude the company went bankrupt!"
>keep money + profit

See, if you or I open a company, take out loans then keep the money personally we go to prison, but if you do this kind of bullshit you don't. So the system is rewarding rent seeking instead of creating actual value.
Now this shitty corporate culture is going all across the western world.

This.

OP PROVES ITS NOT CAPITALISM, BUT VIRTUE THAT BUILDS A SOCIETY.

With 100% white people you could have communism/capitalism/Christian/Islamic/socialism/fascism and it simply will work.

Because the people will make it work. It's all about the character of a nation. Higher ideals, overcoming your animalistic desires.

Aristotle, Plato, Socrates, they all agree happiness can only come about from being virtuous.

Cooperation (between competent and good-natured people) > competition.

Nice try but Japan exploits the shit out of its working class. This was most likely some sort of performative socially imposed ritual otherwise he'd basically be forced out, rather than any real sympathy for his staff.

The question to ask of any social policy, economic system, government procedure, etc., is simply this
>is that how youโ€™d behave with family and friends?
If the answer is โ€œnoโ€, then that system isnโ€™t going to work. You cannot reduce the complexities and moral ambiguities of life to a series of iron-clad heuristics. Cooperating with people is complex and nuanced and humans have spent our entire history as a species developing the ability to do it well and we still struggle with it.

>but how will that work in a country of 300 million p-
it wonโ€™t. Thatโ€™s the point. Low trust low engagement societies cannot function. If you donโ€™t care about the people whose lives you impact, and they donโ€™t care about you, then society cannot operate.
