Why do I need this bullshit number to be high to be able to get a car, a house, an apartment, or certain jobs?

I'm legal, not an immigrant, either. I do legal things. I just prefer the physicality of cash. My bank dealings are legitimate, and I do not work for an illegal establishment. I'm not particularly attuned to what's going in finance, otherwise, though. I don't invest in stocks, gamble, or anything related to those.

its just a quick and systematized way for lenders to judge if you're worth lending to. we dont live in a country where everyone knows everyone else like in your village style country so its kind of useful to some people. if you know your bank they can always help you out anyway. credit scores aren't everything.
