>>509504757This. I didn't realize how much of a scam Costco was until i got older. I remember as a kid going with my mom and thinking it was heaven. And thats mostly it, they appeal to Boomers who need to go super size and need to feel like they're getting a deal but you definitely over spend when shopping there.
Like I'm single and if i went to costco it would be $250 for 10 things and i wont necessarily have everything i need.
instead i go to walmart, buy my toothbrush, toothpaste, bar of soap etc, including my groceries and I spend 100 or 200 max if i have to get some durable stuff. now i could go to costco to get the same stuff but it would have to be bulk. instead of getting 3 razors at walmart for 5 bucks, it would be 45 bucks for 30 razors but i dont even need that many. I would need to commit to using that same razor for 5 years to make it worth it. instead at walmart, i can try a new razor brand or model if it comes out and if i dont like it i can go back to the mach 3 or keep using it. Im not even saving that much by buying it bulk at costco. only saving a few cents per razor. plus when i buy in bulk, i find myself being wasteful or over using. If i buy a single razor, ill use it until the blades fall off because i dont wanna have to go to the store to buy another (laziness). when i have a pack of 30, i might switch out the razor earlier than usual just cause i have so many. Im sure costco and consumer brands know this which is why they might sell to costco for less knowing the people who buy their will.buy more product overall. same goes with food. unless you want processed packaged food which is bad for you, then you're not getting much of a discount. and you end up overeating that food. the fresh food you should be eating is not much cheaper and you also have to buy in bulk, but the fresh food will easily perish. at walmart, i get what i need and finish it by the end of the month. on top of all this youre having to pay the monthly membership
