>>509525734Telling a Canadian who had his bank account frozen for protesting, was living in his car through winter, arrested for it, fighting jeets for access to foodbanks and wasn't allowed to legally work without being vaccinated so he had to move to the other side of the planet that Australia was somehow worse is laughable.
Canada is a failed nation not solely because of anything the government has done, but because no matter what happens, no matter how bad things get, they just lie to themselves and tell themselves that someone else has it worse. At least we're not America was the mantra my entire life. An illusion that is shattered the second they leave the country.
Not once have I ever seen an Australian lie about their experience during covid, several have made fantastic documentaries on the subject in fact, but without fail every time I see the topic discussed by Canadians back home, by friends, family, here, that same dishonest and insidious mantra bubbles to the surface and manifests itself in one form or another.
I won't miss it or any of them.
I genuinely use to look down on Australians, but the very same traits I use to look down on i've come to realise will probably be their saving grace. Brutal honesty and violent rage and I am quickly learning to embrace both.
