Yes, Edom was conquered and many of them forcibly converted, but they did not hijack the Jewish people. The Edomites were a separate people right until the destruction of Jerusalem. The Edomites were even recorded to have sacked Jerusalem and raped and killed many of the Jews inside, before the Romans destroyed them all. If the Edomites replaced the Jews, then why did they sack and rape their fellow Edomites?
