The best way to go at it is with middle housing inbetween a detached single family home and mid rises. This is a mess that needs to be cleaned up by local governments too so I wouldn't hold my breath. Even if we had a benevolent dictator we'd still be struggling to fix this, so enjoy buying a 2 bed room house for 10 million bucks in a few years.
