Because it is significantly more practical than Celsius. Having 100°+ of temperatures where people actually exist is a lot better than the like 20 in Celsius.

Okay? Did I say anything about laboratory use? The temperature I care about is the one in my room and outside my house and if the scale used for that only has like 10 usable numbers what's the point of it? May as well just say "it's hot"
