a lot of people have roots in Italia. They consider themselves French of course but I think a good 20% of people I know are somewhat Italians.
Not that it's a bad thing or anything it's just a lot more widespread than we imagine also they're perfectly integrated and even if they weren't it'd be fine as we like Italian culture (plus we're inheritor of the Romans anyway)
