Honestly, to me, its a red flag if anyone thoroughly enjoys this flick. Not for reasons most of you think though.

The entire premise of this movie is some underdog kid becoming the literal savior of an entire race and brutally killing two seemingly insurmountable forces of oppression (The emperor and harkonnen/sardaukar armies). A movie like this typically resonates with people whom are deep seeded, grade-A narcissists. Everyone I have encountered who likes this movie is a completely self absorbed asswipe that thinks they are superior to everyone they encounter, that they are somehow “different” or “awake”. I don’t quite understand how this hasn’t been flagged as a right wing extremist coded movie, because it certainly is one.

There are some movies I enjoy just for the atmosphere, art direction, stylistic choices, music and ambience etc The dune movies fall into that, as does Blade Runner and the sequel, and films like the Hitcher, I can largely forget dialogue and story in favour of those things if they are over whelmingly good.
(I also watch heavy rain videos alone at night sometimes) I am though, quite a nice guy and will help family and friends at a moments notice. Thank you for your attention fellow 4chan user.

I'd say the books rather have a fatherly approach first, and while the setting is obviously inspired by Lawrence of Arabia, it always seemed to me like a Shounen/Seinen-type of story where Herbet tried to impart some timeless wisdom to young men.
Probaby the most famous moment in that regard ofc being the "fear is the mind killer" scene, but I think it spans throughout the book. At least to me, thus warning his young readers against falling for a saviour myth would be perfectly in line with what he's trying to accomplish with his book(s). Making use of the myth, like Paul does, makes the whole thing even more of a book for adolescent boys, as it turns Paul into a bit of a superhero, out of realistic reach, but all the more appealing at that age.
