A few reasons, it wasnt because I didnt like the US. I had just had enough of LA and CA in general at the time and decided I wanted a change. Was originally planning to move back to TN but the missus got pregnant. My wife is from the UK, a very nice area called the Lake District. We just decided it would be better to bring kids up there, especially with her family being local and me being an only child with no parents alive. There would be a ready made support group for the missus and kids

Its also far, far cheaper than living in the US. Im self employed, work from home and at the time was bringing in about $220K a year in LA. That a decent amount but its still not enough to have a good standard of living in LA. In the UK I could live like a minor royal on that same income, in a beautiful medium population density area with almost zero immigrants and crime. I literally bought a 4 bed house on the side of a lake for less than my 1 bed apartment in LA. That made it an easy decision once I factored in bringing up a couple of kids there
