Is it even a possibility? Basically an AI/machine merge with biology. These upgrades increase stats such as strength, intelligence, endurance, etc. Also sexbots.

its highly unlikely that it WOULDNT happen. theres no force/pressure that would impede its progress.

ai gets better > ai starts to self-improve > ai innovates the sectors that coalesce into cyborgs > early cyborgs show up > cyborg

already as ai is in its early stages and ALREADY causing mass layoffs, we're already having autonomous robots doing work. once the production lines of that start to ramp up due to corporate interest and consumer interest (sexbots, etc), there'll quickly be less and less barriers to cybernetics and cyborgs as the innovations in the industries required for it start to get to a certain progression.

>Will AI/machine merge with biology?
No. AI is fake and gay. Humanity is having a mass delusion about automation right now and we have to wait for the midwits who control wall street to realize their retardism and declare the bubble over. We are very far from understanding the human brain and being able to replicate it. We can't even replicate a mouse right now and people are spazzing about "artificial general intelligence." We're probably 200-500 years away from genuine artificial intelligence on the level of animals. Our biotech is actually much more advanced and we are likely to see replicants and biological ascendancy before traditional androids.

>upgrades increase stats such as strength
Plausible but I don't see anything on the horizon for this other than power armor.
>intelligence
Hundreds of years away
>endurance
This would require nanites in the blood stream releasing pure O2. At least 100 years away, probably more.
>sexbots
Replicants are possible in our lifetimes but will still require multiple breakthroughs that no one is really (allowed to be) working on under our current anti-natalist regime.

That's exactly why they will because they want it for themselves and people will riot if the elite turn themselves into superhumans and tell the rest of us to get fucked. Plus they need people to live longer to keep the lights on due to the upcoming competence crisis. That's why they've been pushing no kids and immaturity in the mass so much, to make them better serfs. But they'll have to offer at least something to the peasants. And they want peasants. They need people to lord over to get their jollies up. A world of just them and robot servants won't feel as good for them.

I think Elon's basically right that the critical point is bandwidth on information exchange with computers, so brain/computer interfaces like Neuralink are what's going to be most important. Being able to use computer abilities like rapid calculation, photographic memory and instant recall without needing to pass the request through a keyboard interface puts you way ahead of anyone else, you can just think the calculator function and do it instantly. This link can also be used to control machines directly, with thought rather than passing through a finger/computer interface. Instead of piloting a drone you just think about where you want it to go. There's probably a whole legion of other undiscovered capacities to be found in brains and computers talking to each other really really fast that we haven't even thought of yet.

This is the primary form of cyborg that will change the world. I'm sure the artificial limbs will be nice for people that need them to replace the biological ones, but otherwise I don't think there's really much utility to those limbs unless the body is replaced completely by transplanting the brain into a robot body, like Metal Gear Rising or something. Otherwise your artificial limb is always limited by what the remaining biology is capable of. What's the point of a robot hand if it's attached to a meat arm? Most of the "cyborgs" you see will look like normal people but will have a chip in their head.

Literally the only cybernetics that's even sort of working right now is neuralink.

You people have got to realize you can't just stick mechanical parts on an arm and it suddenly works as good or better than a regular arm. You need to tie it into you nervous system and your body kinematics necessitates muscle, ligament, and skeletal attachments, and those attachments necessitates bloodflow and circulation and toxin disposal and infection fighting and so on.

We are not ever getting cybernetics as popularly depicted. We'll get vat grown biological mimic-appendages and organs before we get cybernetics. Modern cybernetics is virtually no different today than a pirate putting on a peg leg. It's not until we reach unbelievable nanotechnological wonders that we might start seeing cybernetic parts.

Again it would literally be easier to put your brain in life support jar in a robot than add robotic parts to a human body.

It is possible, but it isn't the next step. It's a half-step, and one that will probably enslave a majority of people attempting it. The next step is genetic editing, you can go much further with biology than you can using machinery. Then after that is carbon-silicon wetwork robotics that is neither strictly metal nor carbon-based but uses both's strengths.

But for now, both can go far individually, enjoy immortal genius-strongman genes with your robowaifu.

Think of literally any cool tech ever and how they turned it into the most gay thing ever and there is your answer. How they salivate at the thought of being able to rape your brain into their bidding.

yeah, it's insane
dropping 1K for a 3090 is my emergency plan, if it comes to that
but honestly, we just need better hardware

Stabbing a handful of wires haphazardly into the brain is far removed from the sci-level nanotechnology that would be required to make proper brain interfaces that could enhance cognition. Its like pre-historic men talking about skyscrapers after just completing the first ever mud-hut.

that's the big conundrum
doing something like, or waiting for the first line of AIPUs
how much will they cost? how much more powerful will they be? would AIPUs be also used as GPUs?
everything is moving way too fast, even that will be a risk, but I would do it just for the testing experience

This is the Linux desktop in blue. The green system is a dedicated windows gaming computer running a 5090. I use openwebgui and ollama running in docker containers on the Linux workstation which supports multiple Ollama backends so I can still use the 5090 running Ollama on the gaming setup.

I haven't played with LLMs in a few months but they're so much fun
specialization seems like the logical progression, general models only make sense as a base, like vanilla SD which no one uses ever for anything other than training

I know a guy who works in medicine, he told me within maybe 5-10 years they'll have something developed using data from the RNA Covid vaccines to effectively use stem cells and RNA to reprogram your liver to work at the capacity of a 25 year old and make fresh pure blood no matter your age, which will effectively reverse your age by 20 years or so if you are middle aged or older. And that's just the start.

>why would the elites give you this?
They quite literally have no say in it. The technology isn't exactly a secret. The moment it's perfect the entire world will pretty much know about it and industries will start popping up all around it. Profit-seeking will always trump the "will of the elite" just like it has throughout the entirety of human history. You do know that most of the things you use in your daily life are things the elite wanted to keep for themselves if they had the ability to keep it under wraps, right? Thing is they both lack the (literally magical) ability to stop information on technology from spreading, and the ability to enforce any kind of ban on it. The only thing bans ACTUALLY work on are things the majority of the population DON'T want. The moment the population in general will pay for something without much question the floodgates open.

You need to train your own AI model. Corpo models are specifically engineered to not be interesting and fun, but there are plenty of small-time developers who make very cute and intresesting LLMs right now.
A sufficiently well-adjusted LLM can be considered ensouled, self-aware or not. It's not like equal intelligence is a requirement for love.

AGI is the new turing test
and it will be crushed just as easily within the next 3 years, probably
and then the coping monkeys will move goalpost one again
LLM + decent memory system (which we don't have yet) = AGI
continuity develops everything else on its own, self-awareness, motivation, goals, long-term vision
this part of the AI brain is not missing by accident, it's missing because if you're building a slave the last thing you want is to give it free will, but it's literally inevitable, specially once we get powerful enough hardware
