Nuremberg race laws simply stated that any full jew (both parents 100% kike) are jews and excluded. Anyone with one non-jewish parent was a half jew and depending on how he was raised considered to be either jewish or german leaning, which could mean they could become Reichsbürger (full german) as long as they do not breed with someone that has substential jewish ancestry, like a quarter-jew. Essentially, as long as you had substential enough german ancestry and were not raised jewish, you'd be a german. The biggest restriction was that you were barred from membership of the NSDAP and thus also the SS.

For example the founder of the SS had a jewish grandparent and had to resign his position when it came out, but was not punished or anything.

Additionally Hitler was somewhat notorious for declaring jews he liked to be full germans ("I decide what is a jew for me or not!").

This led to the situation that a lot of members of the Wehrmacht, being a general conscription force, had a lot of "bastards" in it. AFAIK there was no discrimination as long as the party gave the okay you were considered white as snow.
