What’s stopping you from moving to a place that will pay you to live there?
Pic rel is one such place. Albinen, Switzerland will give you $25,000 if you’re single and under the age of 45, willingly to become a citizen and live there for 10 years. You have to purchase a house that’s minimum $250,000.
A family of 4 will be granted $60,000 with each extra kid being $11,000 per.

Rule of thumb: Do you live in the USA or Canada? If yes, don't move to a different country. Everywhere else is a lot more expensive, a lot less free, a lot less white or all of the above. If you need to see it in person first, you do you. Just don't be quick to give up your citizenship.

switzerland. i lived there for six months.
i really like the place. quite a lot.
but living there without an expense report or vacation money, jesus h christ, just breathing there costs money.
outside of the italian speaking areas the food is expensive, while its good in terms of not being as goysloppy and jewish, its not that good.
i would move to switzerland if i thought i could transfer my current income there.

That's what's shit about waging, high paying remote jobs also require you to live in the state the employer is in, when in reality all you need is a good remote connection and a computer that passlocks every 5 minutes to protect classified blueprints. But what's stopping you from transferring your money every year?

Not a problem if you own your own business or can work anywhere from home. There are lots of countries that take in foreign residents. Most require that you have steady income so that you’re not dependent on their safety net. Buying a home assures them that you’re not some gypsy just passing through for the gibs.

I’m hoping to spend a few years over seas living off the local economy waiting for my Medicare to kick in. Medical insurance in the US from retirement until I turn 65 will be hella expensive, everywhere else in the world, not so much. Why blow retirement savings on over priced insurance I probably won’t use? More likely I’ll be far healthier exploring my my new home anyhow. I can always return to the US once retirement actually becomes affordable.

Sadly, my house is half that yet I get to cover those ridiculous expensive homes perched on cliff sides, in flood zones and along the unpredictable sea coast. Likewise, my car literally has no value but I have to cover drunks and risky drivers with cars more valuable than my home to replace. Kind of a scam, no? Insurance ought to break down into property value groups so that people are more responsible for the coverage of their own or property. My insurance would definitely come down if I was in a group covering cars with a max value of 25k or homes with a max value of 250k.

No? If you were a factory worker in the 90's, which is still the majority of the population, you needed a spouse to sustain life together. This is discounting any education or owning a business. It was either that or your whole family lived in the same household as your grandmother. I don't know where the fuck you're getting this idea that single men were always able to live on their own before the 90's without busting their balls working in some coal mine or on a highway at 4am. The average manual labour job at blackberry or toyota could not sustain you a life alone 30 years ago. You are fucking tripping nigger

There’s some sense to this. No country would tolerate your insistence of lighting fireworks all night, driving around through residential neighborhoods blaring shitty music or listening to that ridiculous tuned exhaust on your car. You’re actually a member of a group and are expected to not loudly express your emancipation from society.

I lived over seas several years- Iran, Germany, Japan. There’s a certain amount of order expected of you by society that you’ll feel definitely infringes upon your rights. Mostly not being a loud obnoxious twatwaffle, but may include your respect towards others around you, contributing to community, or curbing hedonistic pleasures.

In the 70’s I lived in a small town in Maine with a factory and nowhere near the 50% of the local population worked in the factory. That was before the factories moved overseas in the 80’s. Your 50% people worked in manufacturing in the 90’s is a rather dubious claim- more like 10% unless you lived in an active mining town. But yes, by the late 70’s, it became a necessity couples both worked as most jobs wouldn’t cover day to day necessities on one pay check. It was actually after WWll that women found they could actively participate in the workforce while their men were off to war.

They also catered to the other businesses in town and were not necessarily there simply because the factory existed. Canadians purchased and shut down our paper mill and Chinette products, Hathaway shirts moved out. Even our electric company wasn’t immune to shutting down once we started purchasing cheaper energy from Canada. Somehow our little town survived the loss of most of our manufacturing jobs. If even 30% of our work force was dependent on these jobs, the town would have gone tits up. Again, this was the 70’s. I completed HS, moved on because not much was happening. By the 90’s several businesses began popping up here and there, our local college expanded and hired more staff. There was manufacturing popping up but much of it automated so only a skeleton crew was needed to run them. Both our hospitals expanded, as did our international airport (daily flights to Canada and Boston). We had several dairies in the area, all did well enough running ice cream parlors throughout the summer and later expanding into full service diners as time went on. Lots of start-ups for a small town as well. Way off the beaten path so we couldn’t depend on tourism. We were dependent on visiting families of the college kids so a lot of opportunity to cater to their needs. Fentanyl raised hell with the economy in the 2000’s.

Just to remind you, your options are:
1. Spend $250,000 with a 10% rebate from the Swiss govt to live in a tiny apartment where it's illegal to flush your toilet after dark.
2. Spend $225,000 and live anywhere you fucking want to.

Who picks choice 1? That's insane. Why would anyone do that?

Having to share the neighbourhood with Germans who pretend they're French, despite being Croatians who speak Italian.
And while not everyone's an ethnic Jew and certainly not a religious Jew, everyone's a financial Jew. So Jewish even us Dutchmen get annoyed... though not beaten.
And they jodel.
And everything costs an arm and a leg.
And everyone has guns. Pistols, machine guns, everything.
But God fucking forbid you do 101kmh on a 100kmh-limited road. Blame cruise control and sat nav inaccuracies and promise you'll have it improved by the car dealer or your license is banned for life.

Very much a culture of "you will comply or I will fuck you harder than the devil would dare... aren't we cute?"

I don’t think this offer was meant to attract workers relying on the local economy so as retirees and independently wealthy individuals, or folks that can run a business and maintain wealth from their homes. If I were to have a 401k with $500k in it, I’d be eligible to move there regardless if employed or not.

What I’m seeing is small villages losing their tax base to the city and needing stable residents that can afford property taxes on pricey homes for ten years. Likewise, they should be financially independent rather than rely on the local economy for employment or taking advantage of public funds for survival.

Are there cheaper homes available? Of course but they don’t generate the same taxes.

The catch is you’re trapped in a home with high property taxes for ten years. The hope is that you and your family will be good consumers contributing to the local economy. At 42, your kids will probably be too old to take advantage of the local daycare and old enough not to be annoying. May be worth the effort if you can start a small business locally, purchase other properties to rent or flip, or just fall in love with the location.

On the downside we’re talking only 1440 residents and a poverty rate of 17%. A 6% decline in population in ‘23. Considered rural. 97% white. Sounds wonder until you consider the probable cause may be such low opportunity that even the immigrants avoid moving there. And you want to purchase the most expensive house in town.

1/3 residents (all 770 of them) live below the poverty line, the average age is 58.2.
Anywhere else, you may be sitting on a bank vault, but in that location, that home may never appreciate fast enough to escape the depreciated value. Nice as a getaway but you’ll get bored quickly enough. I question whether the home has been updated enough to justify the cost. Having owned a couple of older home I can say that they get stuffy as fuck in the summer heat and cold with the onset of winter. Architecturally interesting, you’re not going to see much of a return especially if it requires $15-20k just to revamp the heating/ cooling which future buyers would expect in a new home purchase. Nice place if we’re 58 and looking to eventually retire.

If you have a house in Switzerland, you have to pay 60% of what would be considered fair rent to live in the house that you "own" as a tax. The Swiss have out-kiked the kikes.

I had a job opportunity in Switzerland. Offered 20k over what I was making here. I'd still be losing money. Fuck Switzerland.

Definitely going to need a roof (a few ceiling pics don’t look promising. It’s definitely a country home with a wonky layout for sure. Gorgeous 70’s Elizabethan style living room; lots of popcorn ceilings hiding years of repairs. Missing banister so forget the VA loan. Does have a recent HVAC installation so you’re not reliant on oil heating and the expense that comes with it. Most of the wood floors have staining and may require the expense of rehabbing, replacement or covering. Kitchen and bath both need to be rehabbed. Basement staining indicates occasional flooding. Assuming the main structure is free of dry and termite damage, with a little money and a lot of sweat, it could be quite presentable. The good news is that this is one of the cheapest places in the area probably due to its neglected condition. Even with a decent rehab, the age and decline in population doesn’t look good. Town will probably die with the aging population unless some drastic change occurs and a younger generation moves in.

Quality of life. It’s like hamburgers at McDonald’s or Hamburgers at Jaeggers. For the independently wealthy, it’s a pretty good deal. If you plan to stay local, a $75k is cool too. There are far better places outside of America to inhabit than Switzerland though. Italy, Costa Rica, Mexico, Vietnam, Japan, etc that do not require you buy an expensive home to be a resident there. Switzerland is offering a rare opportunity to outsiders but after clawing through the bullshit, what they really want are anchored taxpayers in underfunded villages. You’ll find this to be the same in most underfunded areas overseas. Some just want assurance that you’re not going to exploit their social welfare nets and spend a little money while you reside there.
