Russia’s Armata tank missing from Ukraine war
https://defence-blog.com/revolutionary-armata-tank-missing-from-ukraine-war/

Nearly three and a half years into Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the country’s most advanced main battle tank, the T-14 Armata, has yet to make an appearance on the battlefield—even on a temporary basis.

It's a lose-lose situation: if they field the tank it will not provide a significant tactical advance and will quickly get destroyed, which will be bad for the image of the Russian army. Better to keep the dozen or so T-14s in storage to be used in military parades and such.

If they had 100s of T-14s and the tank really was very good then they would field it. But neither of those is true.

They pretty much gave up on it cause they realised it was economically unsound. Better to build shitload of upgraded T-90s than boutique numbers of Armatas.

Russia dodged a bullet there, they where all set to produce a heavy tank like the west, but the war has shown them that would be retarded, light tanks are future of armour

Assault rifle is a far smaller project than a main battle tank especially the one as complex as Armata. AK-12 isn’t as revolutionary.
It won’t enter service as there’s no real need for it, simple as.
This is good, as Russian military seems to have given up on being Western and spending shitload of money on silver bullets. Real-life experience in Ukraine taught them lessons they needed to learn.

They have been upgrading/rebuilding older models. All thier tanks have drone jamming tech to thats why ukraine just uses drones on civillian targets now

lets start with the gliding bombs and drones.

how about that.
rf started this war with no gliding bombs what so ever. a weapon nato has since the 80s
and with just a few lance drones.
it was ukrainians who started using drones first.

Aside from whatever design flaws we don't even know about yet, the key flaw of the Armata, and the whole Russian modernization program it's a part of, is that they rely on technology Russia can't produce domestically and needs to import from the west. At the best of times it's a supply chain bottleneck but obviously sanctions inevitably cut off their access entirely. Without the chips to power those high tegh computer systems controlling the remote turret, it's just an empty hull.

>"Send your future-tank to battle so we will study and adjust the designs of our own future-tanks for WWIII."
This is the last modern war of this era before the future finally comes. Any future tank getting into battle right now would just be singled out, abducted, and the wreckage paraded for the next year.

It's already obsolete in the age of drones. All those overengineered and overpriced boxes are useless. I dunno what you are trying with this gotcha attempt. When it's the same with every western box supplied to Ukraine. And both sides switching to literal bikes and quads. Because turns out they really are better against drones...

This is a nice cope for the "there are no more tanks to target"-situation. You might add invisibility blanket camo to the story to make it even more "too techno-advanced to be seen".

Russians produce 300+ T-90Ms a year, all new hulls, and production is only going to increase.

Germany and the US produce... (drumroll, please) zero. No, refurbishing extant hulls does not count as a new tank.
