They don't, and they would probably execute you for criticizing Mohammad or whatever. But unlike the West, they WOULD allow you to criticize jews or question the holocaust.

There's probably no genuinely free speech place anywhere on the planet. The only question is how heavy the censorship is and what gets censored, which differs from country to country. But there might not be anyplace with genuine 100% freedom of speech like our founding fathers had intended. In theory we are supposed to, but Trump's cracking down on antisemitism in universities and deporting people and so on proves the constitution is being ignored.

Iran is like that in their own way when it comes to Islam, but like you said they at least never even promised freedom of speech in the first place so at least they're not hypocrites about it.
