Depends on what you do and what interests you have. I know guys that work as mechanics and LOVE their jobs, and guys that hate it. Same for HVAC, plumbing, electricians, etc...

As for pay you have to see what trades are in demand in your area. Welders can make anything from $12 and hour to well over $25 as an apprentice
