Back then only elite people would attend college to pursue their passions.
Nowadays we’re so reliant on technological advancements to drive us forward that everyone needs a uni degree in order to have a minimum paying job, creating a rat race that pushes our cost of living higher and higher while undesirable jobs are dumped on migrant labour.

Sure there are many other factors like central banking, abolition of gold stamp, more regulations in construction, migration but this is to me the most glaring issue to me.
