One of which would be via frame extraction - the camera works by taking a photo every X seconds, they could just double frames of still images (hours of static door footage) until they have the time block the needed then simply cut and splice and the "missing" 8 mins is all the doubled frames
They remove 8 mins of undesirable footage
They then insert 8 mins over a 12 hour period by doubling frames, because it's a static image (a room with nothing changing or moving) it's literally impossible to tell this has been done (or asserting so reaches full schizo tier) unless you have access to the OJ file hash, which they do not.
There's so much time footage of the the camera staring at the door, they could probably remove up to at least 1 hr of video via splicing and recover the missing time via frame doubling insertions. The only way to tell would be the single frame fuckup where they can't properly "stitch" them together and would either have to manually do it pixel by pixel or settle with a "good enough" job and just handwave away any annoying snags which crop up and be done with it
