State rights is holding America back
State rights is a huge mistake when trying to run an actual country. The United States is so behind China simply because the actual government cannot exert their power over the country they're supposed to run.
Each state has devolved into some mini country that the federal government has to jump through these retarded bureaucratic rules each state makes up for themselves while China can just do whatever they want and actually run their country.
Each state being able to micro manage themselves made sense in a time without instant communication, but now, it does not make sense to allow these states to simply refuse the will of the people as a whole that is projected via the federal government.

>Each state has devolved
no, they started out that way under articles of confederation, that didn't work so power moved toward centralization with constitution. then in 20th century the feds got even more power with due process clause abuse and legislating from the bench among other things.
the whole point of the us government is to make sure it can't do anything (expect redistribute wealth) of course centralized authoritarian powers can be more effective, it's not a bad approach, see singapore
