As much as I want a third political party, I don't want a thinly veiled Technocrat Party that will just further push america into oligarchy.

The only good things I can see come out of this are to potentially split the republican ticket, and if Musk manages to push states into adopting ranked choice voting (since ranked choice voting is all but necessary for third parties to be relevant in elections, the lack of it is why we have been locked into a two party system).

If either of the above happens, it makes it more likely that the democrats can also split as a party and still be relevant, and maybe one of those two parties will actually be worth voting for.

I agree with you. But in order to get there, we need a substantial election reform to shake up the meta. Things have gotten the way that they are right now because too much money is allowed to just flood elections to buy politicians their seats and push anyone who is not bought and paid for off the board. We get to make our choice, but donors and special interests get to decide what our options to pick from are so the game is usually rigged from the start.

Ideally, what we would need are:

Ranked Choice Voting: Lets people vote based on policy and conscience rather than cynical zero-sum game theory
Enforced limits on campaign finances, preferably in the form of political advertisements and rallies being illegal beyond a 2 month window directly before the relevant election. We need to not only better police the campaign funding thats happening, but make it less pay-to-play in the first place.
Eliminate the electoral college, vaporizing the concept of battleground states. Combined with ranked choice voting, the vote % needed to secure a win raises from 50.1% to 60%, meaning you need to establish an actual majority instead of a technical superiority or (god forbid) a plurality.

If we magically got all of those, then the political landscape would look like a meteor just wiped out the dinosaurs. Everything that used to be the political meta would no longer work, and a new meta would need to develop. And in the chaos before things find a way to calcify, you have change and an a strong need to please the common voter to get and maintain power. How America is *supposed* to work. Whereas our current system, which has been maliciously shifted to be "tyranny of the minority", where all power can be locked down by an ever smaller group of people in control of the levers of government.
