They intuit (maybe correctly) that if the Trump Thing goes away, a big part of their identity goes with it. No more trusting the plan, no more "Heh... but what about sleepy Joe, right guys? >:)" etc. There's also likely a genuinely profound sunk cost fallacy there. If they admit that Trump buried the Epstein files -- for literally whatever reason -- they have to reckon later with the idea that if he betrayed them on this, what else has he betrayed them on? This can quickly lead to a very dark place with how invested some of these people are (more than a few have completely ruined their marriages or familial relationships over The Movement) and it's just gonna be a defense mechanism for most. They'll memoryhole it because it's literally just too psychologically dangerous it is to interact with. It's like a mental atom bomb on a shoestring trigger.
