Another big chunk of missing people vanish due to the forces of nature. They get lost in the forest, they get swept away in a flood, the fall through thin ice taking a shortcut across a lake that they thought was frozen solid. More rarely they get preyed upon by a large animal.
Only a miniscule percentage of missing perosns cases are truly mysterious.
