Most blacks are crypto-muslims if not literally muslim. You can laugh at Nation of Islam but it set the basis for a lot of islamic thought in blacks through figures like Malcolm X. Calling a black a nigger (Yakub) is like insulting Muhammed to an arab, there's a lot of self-identifying behind the figures outsiders wouldn't get when they say taboo words. It's a form takfir and saying they're not part of Christianity. In South Africa they call them 'kafir' for similar reasons and the word has the same effect, they were aware of their inclinations to Islam.
