I have been homeless and gone hungry, it is pure survival mode. I wish I knew that you can sleep in mosques if you are quiet, respectful, and keep Halal. You don't have to sleep rough on the streets. You are never too poor to live when you have a real community.

Sufi ascetics/mystics, Fakir, live in mosques full time. It requires a lot of discipline. That is why zawiyas exist, they are lodges for ascetics. These men take vows of poverty and join ascetic brotherhoods.

I have the blessing of Sayyid to build a beautiful zawiya down by the water in the woods. In a zawiya, a brotherhood of ascetics live in peace, prayer, study, contemplation, and meditation. The Shaykh is the Abbot essentially, it is the closest thing that Muslims have to a monastery.

I dream to build a majestic and sublimely peaceful home for the homeless. A palace for the poor.

just one? most of them love to travel and that's why they refuse Christian institutions where they would be given a free (private) room, hygiene facilities, and free breakfast + dinner with the only demand being to be home by 8PM and sing some psalms few times a day

if you have multiple palaces for the poor they could actually go on pilgrimages between them, which is healthy
